The remaining 3 councilors will appoint replacements for the 4 vacancies. 

The positions became vacant March 5. The city’s municipal code requires that applications be accepted for 30 days. To ensure there was no ambiguity, the application window was extended to 30 business days (as discussed in the 4/17/2024 City Council Meeting) and closed at end of business day on Friday, 4/26/2024.

Eleven people applied for the 4 vacant City Council positions!

The applicants have a significant range of depth and experience. Studies have repeatedly shown that diverse backgrounds and opinions lead to more creative and effective solutions. We are encouraged by the number of strong candidates.

Interviews this Thursday (May 9th) and Monday (May 13th)

Five candidates will be interviewed in a working session on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 5:00 pm at City Hall (link to agenda and meeting zoom link). Sometimes the audio of meetings is difficult to hear, so the best way to hear the complete meeting is to attend in person.

More interviews will be held in a working session Monday May 13th (link to agenda and meeting zoom link), followed by a discussion of the candidates at the Wednesday May 15th regular council session (link to agenda and meeting zoom link).
